OCEAN MEDICAL CENTER VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER Brick Township, NJ Located in the heart of one of the largest and fastest growing counties in the state, Ocean Medical Center (OMC) has become a vital part of the community since its opening in 1984. Today, Ocean Medical Center is a 357-bed teaching hospital. Ocean Medical Center recently completed an $82 million, four-level expansion project that included a state-of-the-art 44,300 square foot Emergency Care Center and a new, comprehensive Cancer Center that provides a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care with the latest radiation therapy technologies. A new heart and vascular center is planned with a groundbreaking in 2021, which will provide three multipurpose catherization/vascular labs and hybrid OR that allow for diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular conditions. The medical center also operates the state’s first satellite Emergency Care Center in Point Pleasant, the Ocean Care Center, and hospital-based programs at Jackson Health Village. Ocean Medical Center is a member of Hackensack Meridian Health. Ocean Medical Center currently operates residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine and psychiatry. The hospital has also been approved by the ACGME for a transitional residency program scheduled to begin in July 2021. Ocean Medical Center has received the prestigious Magnet award for nursing excellence three times. The facility has also received the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence, the Get with the Guidelines awards including Heart Failure Gold Plus Award, Stroke Gold Plus and Stroke Honor Roll Elite Awards and Action Registry Platinum Award. OMC has earned the Leap Frog-A designation continuously from Fall 2018 through Fall 2020, including best teaching hospital in 2019 and 2020. Reporting to the Chief Hospital Executive of Ocean Medical Center and maintaining a matrixed reporting relationship to system leadership, the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer is responsible for ensuring that the highest quality of care, patient safety, and evidence-based medical standards are practiced at OMC. As a key member of the hospital’s and region’s senior leadership teams, the CMO will be a visible leader responsible for providing strategic and clinical leadership through expertise in quality and patient safety, physician alignment, and medical staff relations. The successful candidate must have the ability to build and nurture collaborative physician relationships, provide leadership in quality and patient safety, and maintain a calm demeanor and steady composure during times of change. Key measurements of success will include: 1) the ongoing pursuit of a continuous quality- and service-oriented culture, 2) building of effective partnerships with OMC’s highly credentialed medical staff; 3) in partnership with others, establishing and achieving goals for the hospital based on industry best practices for both quality and cost of care; 4) serving as an active participant in Ocean Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian Health’s efforts related to healthcare reform and the movement from volume to value. Critical to the success of this role will be the ability to foster positive interdisciplinary communication between the hospital, the formal Medical Staff, and Hackensack Meridian Health.
