President, Mount Sinai South Nassau

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Board and senior management of South Nassau and Mount Sinai Health System to develop and implement processes for:
  • Creating strategic initiatives and business plans;
  • Addressing financial issues including, appropriate budgeting, capital operations, proper revenue cycle processes, and the material correctness of financial statements;
  • Facilitating clinical, academic, and research collaborations;
  • Evaluating the financial soundness of business development initiatives and ensuring appropriate implementation; and
  • Maintaining high patient satisfaction and well-maintained physical facilities.
• Foster a dynamic vision for the allocation of clinical and financial resources such that Mount Sinai South Nassau achieves preeminent levels of quality and patient satisfaction.
• Continue to refine and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the hospital, integrating the hospital with the Mount Sinai Health System and lead the execution of the plan.
• Address all challenges and opportunities related to regulatory compliance, state, and national regulations, quality of care, core reporting measures, practice guidelines and length-of-stay initiatives.
• Attract and retain outstanding clinical faculty, as well as staff, who can contribute to the achievement of the hospital’s mission.
• Gain consensus from medical staff members, clinical leadership, and staff to rally behind newly established priorities, recognizing that cooperation and collaboration are necessary.
• Expand upon the fundraising base of the hospital through grateful patients, coordinating efforts with physician leaders.
• Maintain focus on maximizing revenues and managing expenses at the hospital.
• Oversee the hospital’s major construction projects, space allocation, equipment purchases, and maintenance.
• Serve as the lead representative of Mount Sinai South Nassau in the communities served by the organization and in matters pertaining to state and local officials.

Candidate Qualifications:

• A professional with outstanding academic and clinical credentials, with at least five years of senior-level experience within a large, complex, teaching hospital environment.
• A leader with a strong track record in a large, complex, matrix organization with multiple constituencies.
• Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and mentor world-class talent.
• Demonstrated capability in strategic planning.
• Proven track record in leading and sustaining operational excellence.
• Proven track record of devising and managing solutions to drive growth.
• An articulate and persuasive fundraiser.
• An individual of passion who can lead through active listening, persuasion, and decisiveness.
• A leader with governance experience.
• An executive with a strong financial acumen and insight to balance mission requirements and world-class care within the realities of a resource-constrained environment.
