Charleston Area Medical Center (Charleston, WV) is seeking an Infection Prevention and Employee Health Director.
Charleston Area Medical Center is a four-hospital academic medical center that includes several ambulatory sites in West Virginia. The Infection Prevention and Employee Health Director position has 20 positions that are direct reports.
The Infection Prevention and Employee Health Director is responsible for the overall development and operation of the Infection Prevention and Employee Health Departments. This exciting position will manage the infection prevention and control program, direct the implementation of epidemiologic studies and research for the purpose of clinical and management support, and direct the operation of a comprehensive employee health program.
Plan, develop, implement and evaluate infection prevention and control activities for the medical center.
Direct epidemiologic studies and research activities for outcome and process monitoring.
Direct the institution, maintenance, and communication of records and data pertinent to monitoring systems.
Analyze data and direct the implementation of appropriate actions for improvement of outcomes.
Administer the infection prevention program. Ensure compliance with accreditation and licensing authorities.
Direct all infection surveillance activities of patient units and develops educational programs for all personnel.
Manage the development and revision of all infection prevention and control policies for the medical center.
Review the implementation of patient care policies and procedures through the supervision of on-site inspections.
Supervise the counseling of patients and their families on infection control issues.
Administer the program for infection prevention related education for CAMC.
Represent the medical center on community-based and government committees and task forces.
Act as a consultant to all medical center departments, subsidiary facilities, and to those facilities with management contracts with CAMC.
Administer the CAMC Inc. Employee Health Program.
Develop and implement appropriate Employee Health services to meet the needs of CAMC and appropriate regulatory agencies (OSHA, accrediting body, HIPAA).
Select, direct the training, counsel, and evaluate departmental personnel.
Make recommendations for transfers, promotions, and terminations as necessary.
Prepare the annual departmental operating budgets and the capital budgets based on the type of services anticipated and programs and equipment needs identified.
Monitor departmental financial performance and justifies changes and variances in budgets as necessary.
Responsible for integrating performance improvement into department and institution operations, and demonstrate a commitment to the process.
Support and assist employee participation in performance improvement processes.
Reinforce employee understanding of work integration with other departments throughout the institution.
Perform related duties as required.
Education: Master’s Degree in Public health, Microbiology, or Nursing.
Experience: Must have four years of experience in Employee Health Services, and 5 years of Infection Prevention and Control in a comparable healthcare setting.
Credentials: Registered Nurse and Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
