Cejka Search has been exclusively retained by University of Chicago (UChicago) to assist in the recruitment of an accomplished Human Resources executive to serve as the Lead Human Resources Executive for UChicago’s largest unit, theBiological Sciences Division (BSD).
With primary accountability to the Vice Dean of the BSD, the Lead Human Resources Executive will serve as part of the BSD’s Executive Cabinet and provide strategic and operational leadership and oversight in all aspects of staff HR. With a strong background in leading an Human Resource enterprise, the BSD’s HR Executive will drive excellence and process improvement initiatives as well as bring innovative approaches to advance the BSD’s People Strategy for key areas involving employee relations, leadership development, talent management and succession planning, organizational effectiveness as well as workforce planning and change management. The HR Executive will partner with leaders and individuals at all levels to align HR strategies with Divisional priorities while providing customized and practical HR and talent solutions to challenges across a range of HR functions including talent management, organizational design and effectiveness, engagement and culture, diversity and staff compensation.

The Biological Sciences Division is a single, unified division that brings together interdisciplinary, world-renowned educational, research and clinical programs in the biological sciences and Pritzker School of Medicine. The Biological Sciences Division includes 135 faculty in 10 basic science departments, over 800 faculty in 13 clinical departments and over 2,400staff members.
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished executive with a depth and breadth of HR leadership experience in a complex, academic, medical or higher education environment. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to serve as a change champion and build collective excitement for future possibilities. An advanced degree is preferred.
