Under the broad direction of the SVP Chief Information and Administrative Officer (CIAO), the Vice President, Environment of Care, provides leadership and direction to a diverse portfolio of services and systems that sustain our health care clinical, operational, and administrative functions. Responsible for providing administrative oversight of strategy, policies, procedures, maintenance and operations for: Facilities (equipment, buildings, grounds); Safety and Security; Environment of Care/Emergency Management; Planning, Design & Construction and two strategic programs: Environmental Sustainability and Violence in the Workplace Prevention.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Additional equivalent experience can substitute for the education requirement.
Minimum 10 years' progressively responsible experience in health care plant operation, design, and maintenance in addition to hospital facilities management, construction & design projects, facilities planning and project management. Contract-managed service experience and vendor selection/management preferred. Knowledge of safety, facilities, hazardous waste, environment regulations, and security management issues unique to health care. Experience with major health care construction projects is desirable. Experience in a Lean management environment is preferred.
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to be decisive but remain collaborative and flexible. Demonstrated ability to build trust, strong partnerships, and collaborative working relationships with leaders, staff and stakeholders. Ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex contracts, codes and regulations. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Proven ability to build high performing, results oriented and financially accountable teams. Knowledge of current and future developments and trends in health care in the diverse areas of responsibility.
