This is an unparalleled opportunity to lead at an internationally recognized research institute. The Vitalant Research Institute (VRI) has engaged AMN Healthcare to conduct a global search for a successor who is an internationally recognized, accomplished scientist and leader in his or her field. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, the next Senior Vice President of Research and Scientific Programs will serve as the administrative director and leader of the Vitalant Research Institute. This new leader, together with other members of the leadership team will help to advance the strategic mission, maintain international renown and position VRI for success in an evolving field.
The new SVP Research and Scientific Programs will be a visionary leader with exceptional research acumen and one who has experience developing and leading strong programs. The successful candidate will be able to leverage an outstanding academic reputation along with established professional relationships in order to oversee and develop research programs that advance the mission and vision of VRI. In addition to his or her own personal research and thought leadership, the SVP for Research and Scientific Programs will contribute through development of scientists, dissemination of international knowledge, and guidance of health policy, all leading to major population impact.
Vitalant Research Institute (VRI) is among the most respected and productive transfusion-focused research programs in the world. Established more than 50 years ago, VRI has become a world-renowned entity dedicated to advancing blood safety worldwide through scientific research, education, and the promotion of evidence-based policy. The Institute produces some of the nation’s top transfusion medicine research by experts in such fields as classical transfusion-transmitted infections; emerging infectious diseases like trypanosomiasis, babesiosis, and arbovirusal infections; and transfusion related immunomodulation. These investigators are heavily supported by extramural funding and have collaborative relationships with major universities and medical centers.
Potential work locations include San Francisco, CA or Denver, CO. Local academic appointment will be sought with University of California San Francisco and/or the Univ. of Colorado Schools of Medicine.
