POSITION SUMMARY: Serving one of the nation's top community hospitals, the Executive Director of Donor Engagement supports a growing philanthropy team by leading activities related to annual giving, events, grateful patient program, Friends of the Foundation program, stewardship, volunteer support, mass communications and similar fundraising activities to maximize philanthropic support to the Long Beach Medical Center and the Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital.
Supports and operationalizes the mission statement, vision and values of the organization and MMCF and ensures that all direct reports understand and incorporate these elements into their respective roles.
Develops, with the team, a comprehensive strategic plan for donor engagement programs clearly detailing the goals, objectives, schedules and budgets consistent with the vision and mission of MMCF.
Seeks to utilize all donor engagement programs to support efforts to secure and steward major and planned gifts.
Strengthens and promotes the public image, mission, philosophy and values of the organization with public and private agencies, individuals, corporations and foundations to define the role philanthropy plays in supporting research, and healthcare programs. Ensures the effective communication of organizational vision, mission and values to all constituents.
Designs and manages a donor engagement and stewardship strategy, which includes direct mail, email, text, social media, website, etc. to grow the number of annual fund supporters each year by acquiring, retaining, and upgrading donors and ultimately moves these donors into personal relationship-based development efforts.
Oversees the Physician and Employee Giving Campaign (iGive). Identifies, recruits, solicits and trains employee ambassadors; work with hospital marketing team to craft a communication plan, cultivate, solicit and steward employees.
Oversees all events and special engagement opportunities that encourage mid-level gifts and moves donors to higher levels of annual giving.
Leads, supervises, and collaborates with the Assistant Director for Development Programs and other staff dedicated to Donor Engagement Programs.
Supports the Major Gifts Team in executing a successful grateful patient/family program.
Manages the Friend of the Foundation (donor concierge) program with the goal of retaining existing donors and growing the number of program participants each year.
Works with internal and external campus partners to communicate a compelling case for support and ensure personal and consistent messaging and positive donor experiences.
