Job Essentials
Provides effective leadership and accountability for ambulatory and acute care operations for Idaho-based clinical enterprise, inclusive of Saltzer Medical Group and all hospital-based or hospital-like operations (e.g. ambulatory surgery center, outpatient cardiac catheterization lab, GI center, in-house imaging and beyond) in the Southern Idaho area (currently Boise-Meridian-Nampa).
Has full accountability for operational and financial management for assigned market, as well as performance in all fundamentals of extraordinary care (i.e. Safety, Quality, Experience, Access, Caregiver Engagement, Stewardship, and Growth).
Develops, proposes and manages operational and capital budgets, and is accountable for developing, proposing, and managing operational and capital budget for market; is the accountable leader for the profit and loss financial performance.
Works collaboratively with other professional, clinical, and operations leaders across the Utah/Idaho region and the enterprise to creatively solve system-level and cross-market challenges.
Develops, supports and executes strategic growth and development of the market and service area. Works in conjunction with other Intermountain leaders and teams to understand market dynamics and trends, develop strategic growth and tactical priorities, leads the request for associated capital or other investments and then executes to plan as indicated.
Accountable for clinical and non-clinical operations within market, supported by the Chief Medical Officer, Operations and Nursing leadership as well as Finance, Human Resources and others. Ultimately, all caregivers in the market roll-up to the market AVP, with a few exceptions.
Optimizes and maintains appropriate staffing for levels needed within market. Responsible for employment (e.g. hiring, termination) decisions and setting compensation for non-provider staff in market in alignment with region and enterprise policies.
Supports deployment of operational, quality, and safety-related standards across all performance areas. Tracks and manages performance against those standards and to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Partners with Continuous Improvement to ensure consistent implementation of the Intermountain Operating Model at all tiers within the market and in all operational areas. Effectively uses and role models Intermountain operating model to measure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and actively leads / participates in quality improvement initiatives.
In conjunction with clinical leadership, supports the deployment and management of clinical protocols in all clinical areas. Ensures survey and accreditation readiness at all times.
Responsible for leadership development and mentoring of future market leadership.
Ensures provider and caregiver engagement and an ongoing emphasis on this domain as a critical KPI. Promotes a culture of patient and caregiver safety. Leads a culture that supports Intermountain's values and patient-centricity.
Ensures effective interactive and ongoing communication to Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), leaders and all caregivers (clinical and non-clinical).
Supports physician and APP performance management (e.g., flagging issues, deploying and monitoring interventions) and performance success in partnership with clinical leadership (Medical Directors, Nursing leaders and other clinical leadership as needed). Collaborates in solving challenges that relate to physician and APP practice optimization in both acute and ambulatory domains.
Cultivates strong relationships and connection with community leaders and stakeholders.
Maintains and fosters strong working relationships with professional colleagues both within and outside of market as related to business and clinical effectiveness.
Ensures compliance with regulatory and oversight requirements inclusive of Intermountain policy, Joint Commission and any other certifying, accreditation or other oversight body as relevant to the assets in the market.
Collaborates with clinical and operational leadership across the entire enterprise to help Intermountain achieve its mission.
Assesses market needs and collaborates with Region leadership to ensure patient access throughout designated market area and across the entire Region.
Responsible for the highest level of patient and caregiver experience in all operations. Leads improvement processes to keep performance at or above stated KPI standards. Demonstrates and ensures service excellence and consumer-focused approach for all operational areas.
Prioritizes and executes strategic physician and APP recruiting requests with input from key stakeholders and formalizes recruiting plan for approval by the Region leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in healthcare or business administration (or related field). Degree must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Seven years healthcare leadership, practice management or hospital operations experience.

Demonstrated sound financial and quantitative analytical skills, excellent diplomacy and persuasive abilities, and strong communications skills (written and verbal).

Experience in managing large groups of multi-site practices and experience opening new ambulatory and acute sites.
