Cejka Search has been exclusively retained by Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC), a premier rural critical access hospital, to assist in the recruitment of an innovative leader to serve as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Located in Elma Washington, Summit Pacific Medical Center is a publicly owned-owned health system governed by a Board of Commissioners. SPMC is a  progressive critical access hospital with a level IV trauma designation, three rural health clinics serving a patient population of over 75,000 residents. With a new Wellness Center completed in 2019, SPMC provides high quality patient care through its multispecialty clinics, emergency medicine services, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, outpatient infusion therapy, tele-stroke program, urgent care, and women’s health services . SPMC provides excellent healthcare and is recognized as one of the most progressive and growing rural hospital districts in the state of Washington.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working collaboratively with a well-established and high performing c-suite team, the COO will serve as an influential and strategic leader with direct responsibility for driving operational efficiencies and outcomes for all ancillary and ambulatory services both in the inpatient and outpatient environments. The COO will ensure strategies, objectives and results are in accord with District needs will collaborating with other members of the executive team to evaluate and expand upon existing services offered in the community and lead SPMC into the future of rural healthcare. Promoting the fiscal success of the organization and the delivery of high-quality service and care, the COO will serve as a mentor to staff and direct reports, an advocate in the community, and a relationship-builder with physicians and other key stakeholders.

Successful candidates will have at least five years senior leadership experience with a demonstrated success in medical staff relationships, high commitment to quality, and a proven track record of performance and systems improvement in a hospital environment. The COO will also have a strong business acumen and an understanding of the challenges in a rural health care or critical access hospital environment.
