As a member of the Optum Specialty Pharmacy leadership team, the Vice President of Clinical Services will lead an organization responsible for clinical services, pharma manufacturer programs, pharmacy internship programs, as well as support accreditation, clinical quality and outcomes. This important leadership role will work in close collaboration with our pharma relations, PBM/payer relations, and specialty pharmacy operations to define, build and operationalize clinical services for therapeutic areas, specific drugs, and ensure industry-leading outcomes and experiences for every patient we serve, every time. This leader will have a solid business, clinical and operational acumen, representing our clinical services and operational excellence to life science companies and PBMs/payers, as well as serve as the face of the business for internal teams, as well as the company at annual industry events such as conferences and meetings. You will be part of the leadership team who runs specialty pharmacy departments including operations, payer relations, industry relations, provider sales, strategy, legal and finance. Responsibilities will span the wide range of supporting business development efforts to operational support to development of new services to implementation of new drug programs, to supporting licensing and accreditation, while building a culture of clinical excellence and innovation. Must be excited about challenging the status quo, have a mentality of lifelong learning, and be motivated to develop others into leadership roles, grow the business and expand the definition of the clinical pharmacy model to adapt to growing expectations and new needs around specialty drugs. Implementing services into the service model such as genetic counseling, pharmacogenomics, medication therapy management, and white glove case management will require cultivation of relationships with partners and successful execution of clinical models clients are willing to pay for. The successful candidate will bring a team of teams leadership mindset, a history of success building high performing leadership teams, and ability to leverage internal and external partners to get things built. Success will be measured by patient, pharma, and provider satisfaction, and achievement of business objectives including financial targets, employee experience indices, new drug wins, and achieving above fair market share. The position will report directly to the CEO of the specialty pharmacy. You must be someone who can attract and develop future leaders, navigate ambiguity, set a vision then gain organizational buy-in, lead by influence across the enterprise, and have unrelenting passion to make a difference in health care.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of pharmacy leaders to identify, develop, implement and operate industry leading clinical services
- Define, develop, & operationalize teams to deliver upon:
- Specialty clinical strategy for therapeutic area success and industry leading outcomes
- Portfolio of disease and drug specific clinical & patient services
- Patient advocacy embedded into model for patient services
- Clinical affairs and outreach with tailored models for different provider settings
- Lead specialty clinical drug pipeline evaluation to include providing clinical strategy for each identified therapy, portfolio decisions for the clinical & operational fit of each product
- Develop and implement clinical outcomes tracking for value based and outcomes based contracting models
- Define, develop & operationalize the prior authorization & appeals support for all drug products supported
- Responsible for clinical services and clinical affairs for the specialty pharmacy
- Develop dedicated and designated disease state experts who will serve patients who need the drugs we dispense
- Collaborate with provider teams to create a well-coordinated approach to patient care, and ensure that everything goes smoothly for the patient
- Build relationships with specialty patient advocacy groups and champion our unique care model and patient centric services
- Be the face of the business at key industry events, conferences, and other speaking opportunities to promote the unique services of our pharmacy and how we operate
- Lead development of our leading care model and patient experience in close collaboration with our specialty front-end operations leader
- Ensure our pharmacy is current in licensing and pursues the rigor to win highest accreditations for servicing specialty patients
- Build a culture of passion for patient care, excellence in service, and highest standards for quality in execution
- Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges

Required Qualifications:
- Licensed, Doctor of Pharmacy or RPh
- 10+ years of direct patient interactions with demonstrated excellence in patient care and support
- 5+ years of progressive leadership roles in pharmacy operations and service organizations
- 5+ years of experience with pharmacy accreditation and licensing
- 5+ years of experience with pharmacy technology platforms, and working knowledge of at least 3
- 3+ years of experience with client presentations and RFP finalist meetings
- 3+ years of experience helping patients get access to medications working with payers and providers
- 3+ years of experience working directly with pharmaceutical manufacturers
- Demonstrated ability to achieve goals in an ambiguous and matrixed work environment
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence others
- Proven ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, comfortable presenting to senior leaders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with state Medicaid
- 3+ years of clinical product, startup, innovation team or other entrepreneurial work
- Experience with specialty patient services and programs for managing specialty drugs
- Strategy or M&A experience
- Working knowledge of payer and PBM business practices
- Healthcare technology experience
- Ability to commute to company, client and center of excellence locations across the U.S., up to 25%
