Deffet Group, Inc. is pleased to have been retained by Kendal at Oberlin to conduct an executive search for its next Chief Executive Officer.
Kendal at Oberlin, a 501(c)(3) Life Plan Community where older adults can thrive and grow, has provided services to residents since 1993. Nestled on 110 pristine acres in the vibrant college town of Oberlin, both natural beauty and the town’s bustling excitement surround the grounds. In the past 30+ years, the resident-driven community has served more than 1,000 men and women. Unlike other communities, the independent nature of Kendal at Oberlin (KaO) means residents are responsible for shaping the community’s life and relationships as a whole. Today, KaO has 240 staff members, serves approximately 350 residents on campus and is a hub of activity for older adults throughout the region. Since 1997, KaO has been accredited by CARF, currently meeting over 1,900 standards for quality, including exemplary conformance for financial ratios.
KaO is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the community in meeting the needs of the next generation. Reporting to the Board of Directors at KaO, the CEO is responsible for the overall performance of the organization and for developing and executing its strategic vision.
The CEO serves as chief liaison between KaO and the local community and governmental agencies. The CEO establishes staffing structures, delegates as needed and assists the Board and its committees in the development of KaO’s future strategic direction, policies, procedures, and plans, which result in the accomplishment of both the organization’s long- and short-range goals.
The successful candidate for this position should have a bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant work experience or a Master's degree and five years of relevant experience; an Ohio Nursing Home Administrator’s license or willingness to obtain it; successful experience in leading a complex organization and interacting with the larger community. They must identify actual and anticipated service requirements by leading KaO in strategic thinking and planning, recognizing new areas for growth and development so that it is positioned for success in its current service area and in the future.
The CEO will assure that KaO provides high-quality programs and services now and in the future to meet the physical, spiritual, and social needs of those who are a part of the organization’s vision. The CEO will work collaboratively with an outstanding leadership team and ensure the organization maintains its high level of overall employee engagement and satisfaction.
This is an outstanding leadership opportunity for an individual who wants to lead a forward-looking community of sophisticated and diverse residents and to continue to build upon the organization’s stellar reputation for providing an exceptional lifestyle in a vibrant environment.
