General Summary

Designs and directs the central development operations for UMMC. Directs a staff across multiple functions within development. The VP directs all processes that support all fundraising operations and provides direct oversight to several fundraising units. Responsible for the leadership of prospect management and research, gift and endowment planning, corporate and foundations relations, annual and special giving, and volunteer programs. Responsible for communications with donors, prospects and volunteers, and coordination of major campus events.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

1. Responsible for the management and direction of the central fundraising activity for UMMC, as well as the implementation of the annual strategic process.

2. Responsible for the establishment and performance of development operations across the Hospital, including prospect management, research, corporate and foundation relations, communications, special event services.

3. Responsible for the management and implementation of annual and special giving programs.

4. Establishes related timelines, communications programs, and feasibility studies in order to deploy development staff in an effective, expeditious manner.

5. Cultivates, solicits and stewards a portfolio of donors and prospects. Upholds the standards of the system-wide customer service program.

6. Establishes fundraising goals, supervise staff responsible for individual, corporate and foundation gifts and recruit and manage the involvement of volunteer community leaders and the medical and administrative staff of the hospital.
