Department Overview
CHA is an 83-year-old volunteer non-profit organization that raises funds to support the health care related needs of children and their families at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota (Children's Minnesota). CHA has a rich history of facilitating leading edge care for children and helping to establish Children's Minnesota as a national leader in pediatric health care. CHA has donated over $21 million to Children's Minnesota over the course of its history and is the largest cumulative donor to Children's Minnesota. Many of the programs and research projects CHA sponsors are ongoing, and depend on CHA funding to continue.
Children's Hospital Association is an independent 501(c)(3) organization, but is closely affiliated with Children's Minnesota and receives some administrative services from Children's Minnesota, including Human Resources.
Position Summary
The Executive Director will be the management leader of Children's Hospital Association (CHA), ensuring fulfillment of the organization's mission. Together with the Board of Directors and Association, this person will be responsible for raising over $750,000 annually for the fulfillment of CHA's mission. The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership for the organization and will supervise CHA staff. This position will be responsible for ensuring smooth administration of the organization and its programs, and for ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations. This position will also oversee CHA's community outreach, marketing, public relations, and brand identity. The Executive Director will be expected to maintain strong positive relationships with CHA Guilds, key donors, Children's Minnesota, sponsors, and community leaders.
In 2023, the Board of Directors consists of 18 members. There are also 7 Guilds spread throughout the Twin Cities. Children's Hospital Association is proud to have over 2,200 active supporters including Board and Guild members, individuals, and corporations who contribute generously to improve the health of children in our community.
* A bachelor's degree, masters preferred * At least 3 years demonstrated fundraising success including both events and direct donor solicitation * At least 3 years senior nonprofit management experience, including supervision of staff and volunteers * Experience forming and maintaining strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. * Experience collaboratively creating and implementing strategic plans * Ability to convey a vision of CHA's strategic future to the board, staff, volunteers and donors * Ability to motivate others and effectively engage diverse volunteers, donors, staff, and collaborators * Solid budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, and decision-making * Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, oversight and task facilitation * Strong written and oral communication skills and experience with public speaking * Experience working with or on a board of directors * Prefer experience as a volunteer
