The Executive Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall operations of the Pharmacy department for all lines of business. This position is responsible for ensuring the Pharmacy department’s overall compliance, financial performance, customer experience, and operational performance. This includes developing and managing the Pharmacy leadership team and staff; also selecting, contracting and overseeing subcontractors. This position ensures the department runs efficiently, develops accurate and actionable reporting, works well with the other departments and key external stakeholders, and meets performance expectations.
The Executive Director of Pharmacy will proactively develop strategies to improve service and quality while containing costs based on industry best practices. This includes strategies around benefit design, formularies, pharmacy networks, Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) contracting, application of UM edits, systems, Part D star measures, customer experience and other areas as needed to allow VIVA HEALTH to continue offering high quality pharmacy benefits and service at an affordable price.
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree
5 years’ experience in a managerial role
7 years’ pharmacy health plan or PBM experience
Experience negotiating PBM and/or drug manufacturer contracts
Knowledge of pharmacy cost drivers and cost containment mechanisms, especially for specialty drugs
Proven high level of managerial and critical decision-making ability
Excellent interpersonal skills for frequent interaction with leadership in other departments, senior management, executives in employer groups, regulators, and external vendors
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentations/public speaking
Ability to identify performance gaps and to design/implement procedures/processes to address them
PREFERRED:
Master’s degree in Business, Health Administration, and/or Registered Pharmacist or Doctor of Pharmacy
7 years of management experience in a health plan
10 years of pharmacy health plan experience, including Medicare Part D and commercial benefits
Experience with CMS Part D star quality ratings
Proven ability to understand and implement complex government regulations
