POSITION OVERVIEW
At Franciscan, the Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will serve as a key leader to provide leadership and expertise for healthcare quality and clinical effectiveness and driving clinical quality improvement initiatives. The CMO will work collaboratively with other executives, physicians, and staff to advance our clinical strategies, enhance patient outcomes, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This critical role requires a visionary leader with a strong commitment to patient-centered care and the ability to foster a culture of excellence among medical staff.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is expected to relocate and hold a primary residence in St. Joseph County, Indiana. The daily work location will be the Franciscan Corporate Office in Mishawaka, Indiana. Permanent relocation to St. Joseph County, Indiana within 6 months is a condition of employment.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Provide strategic leadership and direction for all clinical operations and medical staff functions.

Develop and implement clinical protocols and guidelines to improve patient safety, quality of care, and operational efficiency.

Collaborate with senior leadership to align clinical initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.

Foster relationships with medical staff, promoting collaboration, engagement, and professional development.

Oversees the strategic planning process for physician engagement; explores employment models and innovative engagement opportunities for employed physicians. Provides direction on physician development, recruitment, and overall relationship activities. Creates an effective bridge between Franciscan's management teams and medical staff to create superior relationships with physicians and to ensure physician input into major decisions.

Monitor clinical performance metrics and implement corrective actions as necessary to meet established goals.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices in clinical care.

Advocate for and lead initiatives related to population health management and value-based care.

Represent Franciscan Health in interactions with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, professional organizations, and community partners.

Serve as a role model for ethical medical practice and uphold the values and mission of Franciscan Health.
QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (DO) - Required

10+ years professional post-residency experience in direct patient care and current board certification in area of clinical training - Required

10+ years Progressively increasing healthcare executive leadership - Required

5 years Vice President of Medical Affairs in a multi health system - Required

Current unrestricted license to practice medicine - Required

Licensure - American Board of Medical Specialties in respective field - Required
