Hamilton Memorial Hospital District (HMHD), located in McLeansboro in rural Southern Illinois, is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead and manage the district's operations. This leadership role is grounded in our mission: to enhance the delivery of healthcare to our community and the surrounding area by providing accessible quality healthcare services, education, and facilities.
The CEO will be responsible for guiding the hospital district's strategic direction, operational excellence, and financial stewardship. This role requires a collaborative, innovative leader committed to sustainability and exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Governance: Provide strategic leadership aligned with HMHD’s mission and goals. Advise the Board of Directors, reporting on performance, key initiatives, and operational decisions.
Operations Management: Oversee daily operations of the hospital and its departments, ensuring compliance with Critical Access Hospital (CAH) standards and alignment with organizational objectives.
Medical Staff Relations: Foster strong, collaborative relationships with medical staff and healthcare partners. Lead physician recruitment and ensure healthcare services are available to meet community needs.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and accrediting body regulations, including HIPAA and CMS. Oversee the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program to drive continuous improvement.
Financial Management: Lead financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and identifying funding opportunities. Promote fiscal responsibility and long-term financial health.
Community Engagement: Serve as a visible, engaged leader within the community, advocating for healthcare access and equity. Build partnerships with local organizations and community leaders.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (required). Master’s degree in Hospital Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field (preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in senior healthcare leadership, with a proven record in regulatory compliance, strategic planning, and operational excellence.
Certifications: Membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) preferred.
