Telamon Group is proud to partner again with McLaren Health Care in their search for a dynamic and transformational leader to serve as the next Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of McLaren Health Care, reporting to EVP/Chief Clinical Officer.
Position Summary
Provides oversight for the clinical, operational and financial practice of nursing across the continuum of care. This includes all acute and ambulatory settings to enable consistent practices, standards, evaluation and adherence to common standards of competency and excellence of nursing across the McLaren Health Care. Visionary leader that brings clinical and operational solutions to the nursing care by driving results, championing innovation and stimulating new thinking. Supports transformation initiatives to advance care and quality outcomes across the system in an integrated and cost-effective manner. Leads the development and implementation of a clinical nursing practice model that reflects and drives best practices, patient safety, and clinical results. Serves as the internal and external champion of nursing for McLaren forming partnerships with external organizations, colleges, universities, and partners to support nursing recruitment, retention, scholarship, and practice excellence. The SVP/Chief Nursing Officer works in a highly collaborative manner – engaging subsidiary leadership, along with the system EVP/Chief Operating Officer – to deliver results for McLaren.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Develops, integrates, and standardizes nursing practices across MHC, assuring that care delivery model(s), clinical staffing standards for nursing and patient care are consistent with current professional standards and within the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the organization.
Works closely with EVP/Chief Clinical Officer of MHC to execute high-quality, safe clinical care delivery across the continuum of care within MHC.
Actively partners with physician and other clinical leadership across MHC to enable coordinated and aligned interprofessional team-based care.
Actively supports MHC EVP/Chief Operating Officer, with a matrix-reporting relationship, to advance operational priorities of the health system.
Partners closely with Clinical Excellence department to advance nursing quality and safety measures, such as the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) and other quality and patient safety initiatives.
Serves as a key mentor to subsidiary chief nursing officers (who have reporting relationship to the SVP/CNO) and other nursing leadership.
Provides strategic nursing leadership in the design and deployment of solutions that progresses clinical practice, improves patient outcomes and advances patient satisfaction.
Supports system standards for nursing clinical documentation and charge capture.
Creates cohesion and collaboration across the MHC system. Develops processes that standardize nursing orientation/on-boarding, improve knowledge sharing, lifelong learning and support the overall transformation of performance across the delivery system
Leads and guides development and implementation of new patient care programs and services to enhance competitive strength and increase market share.
Supports, drives, and leverages innovation including use of tools and technology, as well as innovation in care models, processes, and systems.
Serves as a senior spokesperson for nursing across MHC. Advises senior leadership, medical staff, governance boards, individual clinical facilities, and other internal and external groups by providing input about the implications of decisions and change on the quality of patient care, on nursing practice and on nursing care providers.
Works actively to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Partners to build recruitment and retention strategies across the nursing functions. Serves as key McLaren ambassador to colleges and universities to promote nursing education, training, recruitment, and scholarship.
Assures that all nursing services are provided in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements of all applicable regulatory bodies including local, state, and federal regulations.
Participates with the MHC board, medical staff, and system leadership team to develop the strategic initiatives, budget, resource plans, policies, and procedures in support of system-wide patient and family centered care

Qualifications:
Required:
Preference to candidates who hold, or are in process of completing, an advanced degree in nursing such as a Doctor of Nursing Practice or PhD in nursing-related field.
Nurse Executive Certification.
Prior role as hospital or regional Chief Nursing Officer or Chief Nursing Executive is desired.
