Functioning as the Deputy Commissioner for Public Health, the position will provide leadership, policy direction, and oversight to the Center for Community Health, Center for Environmental Health, Wadsworth Center for Laboratories and Research, Office of Public Health Practice, and other organizational units within the Department of Health’s Office of Public Health, which totals approximately 3,000 staff.Major functions of these Centers include providing direct health services and evaluating local government health delivery activities; identifying statewide public health trends, issues, and problems which pose a high risk to New York State’s citizens, such as exposure to toxic materials and communicable diseases, and developing and implementing programs to ameliorate risks;
