 Regional Medical Center&#39;s Chief Executive Officer administers, directs and coordinates all activities of the hospital and clinics to carry out its vision, mission, and values. This position promotes favorable public relations; negotiates for improvement of hospital buildings and equipment; coordinates activities of medical staff with those of other departments, and recommends and develops policies and procedures for the various hospital activities and performs related administrative and supervisory duties to ensure the efficient operation of the hospital. This position serves as Chair of the Strategic Advisory Council and the Administrative Council in planning, policy formulation, and administrative decision making to assure quality services.

Established in 2004 through a partnership between the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) and the Iowa Medical Society (IMS), Compass brings together a diverse group of stakeholders &#8211; including providers, hospitals, payers, employers, community organizations, and government partners &#8211; to drive meaningful, system-wide improvement. 
 Through this multi-stakeholder approach, Compass is uniquely positioned to accelerate the adoption of best practices, leverage data to inform decision-making, and foster collaboration across the healthcare ecosystem. Its work is focused on improving the quality, safety, and value of care, both within Iowa and as a model for broader national impact. 
 Compass is guided by a clear mission to lead sustainable healthcare transformation in quality, safety, and value, and a vision of a collaborative culture of continuous improvement that drives more effective and efficient care. Its efforts are grounded in four core priorities: raising the standard of care, aligning and equipping providers for continuous improvement, engaging communities to support long-term transformation, and promoting data-driven performance improvement. 
 Compass is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors representing a broad cross-section of healthcare and community leadership, including hospitals, physicians, nursing, pharmacy, long-term care, health systems, business, and performance improvement experts. This diverse governance structure provides a strong foundation for collaboration and strategic influence across the state. The organization is led by a President/CEO who oversees a staff of 15 and an $8 million operating budget.&#xa0; The position is fully remote but requires Iowa residency.

 JOB PURPOSE 
 Reports to: &#xa0;Compass Healthcare Collaborative Board of Directors 
 The President &#38; Chief Executive Officer (CEO) advances the Compass Healthcare Collaborative&#8217;s mission of achieving sustainable healthcare transformation through increased quality, safety and value. This executive position sets strategic direction, collaborates with a broad stakeholder base, and ensures appropriate compliance, financial health, and sustainability of the organization. The CEO guides a highly professional team responsible for leading healthcare transformation and delivering the mission and the four cornerstones of the Compass Healthcare Collaborative:

 Align &#38; Equip Providers for Continuous Improvement 
 Engage the Community for Sustainable Healthcare Transformation 
 Promote Responsible Reporting of Healthcare Information 
 
 DUTIES &#38; RESPONSIBILITIES 
 Develop and communicate a compelling short &#38; long-term vision from which the growth strategy, organizational leadership and financial outcomes are derived. 
 Drive healthcare system improvement, inspiring efforts to address previously unidentified challenges with creative solutions in the areas of: 
 
 Quality &#8211; evidence-based medicine 
 Safety &#8211; eliminating unintended consequences

 Ensure that the day-to-day administration of policies, procedures, and programs meets the vision and objectives established by the Board of Directors. 
 Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and best 
 Establish appropriate organizational ethics and auditing practices and prepare the organization for compliance with and/or remediation requirements. 
 
 Develop and maintain effective relationships with external constituency groups including but not limited to associations, industry, government, public service organizations and vendors. 
 
 Drive holistic healthcare systems improvement by brokering relationship and influencing behavior change within the constituencies of Providers, Payers, Purchasers and Patients. 
 On behalf of Compass Healthcare Collaborative, provide external thought leadership and maximize relationship management activities and events. 
 
 Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure clear &#38; timely communication regarding status of the organization. This includes regular accountability and reporting on organizational progress toward objectives. Carry out other general responsibilities as may be delegated by the Board of Directors. QUALIFICATIONS 
 
 Ten+ years of experience in a healthcare-associated organization focused on value-based care, quality systems improvement, patient and staff safety, continuous systems improvement, or any combination thereof. 
 Graduate degree or equivalent experience in healthcare, hospital/healthcare management, or public health. 
 Prior C-suite or advanced level leadership with accountability for significant organizational growth including financial, talent, product, geographic and stakeholder growth. 
 Entrepreneurial, with demonstrated success in identifying new revenue streams. 
 Advanced understanding of healthcare, healthcare systems, applicable laws and regulations, and performance-based contracting, with a clear passion for improving how healthcare is delivered. Strong preference for understanding of the Iowa healthcare legislative landscape. Experience in a healthcare landscape similar to Iowa and national perspective considered. 
 Demonstrated successful leadership, negotiation, management, and problem-solving skills, along with strong interpersonal and influential abilities; a natural convener who builds and sustains relationships with key stakeholders. 
 Natural thought leader and &#8216;future creator&#8217; able to define and build consensus around creative, innovative solutions to change the healthcare landscape and usher in the healthcare of tomorrow. 
 Exceptional oral and written communication skills and a track record of building innovative, creative, and collaborative teams and working groups. 
 Familiarity and previous experience working at the intersections of healthcare Purchasers, Providers, Payers, and Patients. 
 Business degree or advanced business degree is helpful but not required. 
 
 WORKING CONDITIONS 
 Primarily an inside office-based role with frequent external interactions including presentation and speaking engagements. Incumbent will travel approximately 5 &#8211; 10%.&#xa0; Compass operates a fully remote office, with occasional in person convening of the full staff team. Preference for candidate resident of or willing to relocate to Iowa.
