Baylor Scott & White Central Texas Foundation, a separately incorporated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, raises and manages charitable funds to support Baylor Scott & White Health. Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed more than $300 million to improve healthcare for Central Texans. We are supported by more than 18,000 active donors, including individuals, corporations and private foundations.
Baylor Scott & White Central Texas Foundation is one of five foundations serving Baylor Scott & White Health. We serve the Baylor Scott & White medical centers, clinics and programs within the Central Texas footprint—from Waco to Austin and Buda; and from College Station to Marble Falls and Llano.
Role Description: The Foundation President leads all Foundation activities in Central Texas, including supervision of the Baylor Scott & White Foundation - Brenham. Reporting to the BSWH EVP of Policy and Community and the BSWH Central Texas Foundation Board, the Foundation President will lead a team of approximately 22 employees based in Temple, Texas and surrounding markets. Organizationally this position is a Senior Vice President (SVP) within Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH).
In close cooperation and collaboration with the executive leadership team, operating partners, physicians, staff and administrators, the President will lead the planning and execution of strategies designed to ensure that philanthropy effectively meets the needs of BSWH’s patients, hospitals, related services, research and medical education. The position champions the continued development of a culture of philanthropy within BSWH, and nurtures and enhances philanthropic relationships throughout the communities we serve.
The Foundation President is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of operational activities for the following areas, as well as related marketing and donor communication projects: - Capital Campaign - Major Gifts and Annual Giving - Corporate and Institutional Giving - Employee and Board Giving - Planned Giving - Endowment Programs
The Foundation President provides counsel to the Chief Executive Officer of BSWH, its executive team, and the BSWH Board of Trustees regarding the vision, strategy and operations of philanthropy in the Central Texas market. This position will partner with the executive team and the BSWH Board of Trustees in implementing a comprehensive, long-term development plan to increase, diversify, and sustain philanthropic support.
Essential Functions: - Direct and participate in development and implementation of the Central Texas Foundation strategic plan, performance improvement program, and operating budget. - Identify, maintain, and facilitate portfolios of top prospects, creating operating plans and cultivation, solicitation and gift closure strategies. - Develop and maintain written policies and procedures that govern operations. Coordinate and direct the development and implementation of annual operating budgets related to areas of responsibility. Plan and direct programs and facilities in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. - Design and coordinate systematic strategies for the identification and cultivation of new prospects. Develop and direct new programs and services for the organization. Work closely with all operating functions of the organization to ensure continuity and growth of programming and services. - Effectively support the CEO, the executive team and all the Foundation Boards as well as other high level volunteers in fundraising activities. - Lead by example to enhance and ensure the timely and effective implementation of cultivation and solicitation strategies. Develop, plan and implement all fundraising strategies and activities in order to meet the Foundation’s budget and campaign goals. - Maintain best practices, instill the importance of properly stewarding all gifts, and ensure a coordinated and collaborative approach for major gift solicitation, planned giving, stewardship, annual giving and prospect research. - Build a model to evaluate the likelihood of realizing untapped opportunity in Central Texas. Understand and strategically evaluate the impact of various changes to key factors, such as staff, deployment, and priorities that will allow for informed decisions about resource allocations. - Lead, mentor and guide the Foundation staff as well as recruit and train additional staff as needed. Implement and facilitate the direction of professional and leadership development. - Interpret, communicate and assure the implementation of BSWH’s mission, vision and values. - Represent the Foundation to the public, to Foundation and Holdings Boards, and various donors and other stakeholders. - Partner with the other BSWH Foundations on opportunities that benefit BSWH. - Partner with the BSWH Central Texas Foundation Board Chair to prepare agenda’s for board meetings. - Perform other duties as assigned.

Goals & Objectives: Performance goals and objectives for the SVP over the first 24 months include: - Expand donor base beyond historical givers. Target new markets such as Austin, Houston, Midland/Odessa and other communities along the I35 corridor. Utilize BSWH Central Texas Foundation Board Members for introductions. - Encourage larger gifts and grow endowment funds with larger legacies. - Develop local programs to support system needs. - Bring new ideas for events and at the appropriate time renew established events. - Increase awareness of Foundation in all markets. - Advance culture of philanthropy within BSWH.
Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree - Certified Fund Raising Executive or similar certification preferred. - At least ten years of related experience. - Must have previous executive leadership experience in non-profit management, including accounting/budgeting, fundraising and strategic planning. - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. - Energetic, inspirational leader with a passion for working with the Foundation to promote medical excellence and research, and medical education.
