Main Purpose of Job
The Executive Director of the Board of Examiners of Psychologists provides a range of administrative functions to support the Board’s activities and further its goals and objectives in coordination with the Maryland Department of Health (MDH). The mission of the Board is to serve and protect the public, regulate the practice of psychology, promote quality, and ensure competent and ethical health care providers. In addition, this management position administers the statutory mandates of the Psychology Practice Act, implements board decisions, staff supervision, provides public information, oversees application and examination processes, complaint and discipline processes, administrative rule-making, budgetary functions, and policy development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and six years of health or human services administrative or professional experience, including three years at a supervisory or managerial level. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the general experience and a Doctorate will substitute for two years of the general experience. Additional experience will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the college degree.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Desired candidates should possess experience in public health, healthcare policy, and healthcare administration. The ideal candidate should also have experience working with a Board of Directors, as well as background in strategic planning, quality assurance, and legislative and regulatory matters. Additionally, experience in staff supervision, data management, excellent report writing, and strong communication skills is desired.
